Wagtails – these small birds with their black-white-grey plumage often wag their long tails up and down, which gave them their name. In the summer I often watch wagtails scurrying with quick steps through puddles after a warm summer rain. In my illustration I tried to express this mood and of course the characteristics of this species.
The vector shapes, colors and gradients of the bird and its habitat have been done in Illustrator. In Photoshop the vector graphic bird gets its textures using analogue generated structures and digital brushes. To give my vector artwork a silkscreen print effect I created further textures using acrylic paint, brushes and a paint roller.
